This destination marketing promotional video was designed to showcase the wide appeal of Wales. Its’ function was to highlight the world class leisure facilities the country has to offer. A slightly surreal narrative juxtaposed empty city locations with rich Welsh landscape and culture, inferring that every one had gone to ‘play’ in Wales. This narrative was further emphasised by using contrasting black and white imagery with richly graded colour film stock. A rousing, orchestral soundtrack was also composed specifically for the film. This music proved critical to the piece. Not only did it form part of the narrative but it also heightened the film’s emotive qualities.
