The Fresh Start Wales campaign was initially set up to persuade adults to stop adults smoking in cars where children or vulnerable people were present. Using a combination of TV sponsorship stings, outdoor 6 and 48 sheet posters, press ads, radio commercials, a website, a nationwide PR campaign and roadshow, the overall intention is to get people to quit smoking. Everything from a branded Quit Kit to a children’s character were created to provide supportive touchpoints for the target audience. Experiential opportunities were also created at roadshows to help quitters get the support of their families. Since the campaign started over 2000 people have signed the pledge to stop smoking in cars and over 750 smokers have requested a Quit Kit. Also, as a result of the campaign, the topic has been discussed on major national media such as BBC Radio 1, ITV News and The Wright Stuff on Channel 5.
